About me
Welcome at my little place in the World Wide Web. My name is Steven van der Peijl, born in the South of the Netherlands in a city called Terneuzen.
When I finished my 'VWO' (equivalent to 'grammer school') I moved to a bigger city; Rotterdam. There I did a Bachelor study called 'Communication & Multimedia Design'.
This study is a mix between ICT, Marketing and Design. The 3 main courses are; 'Interaction design', 'Multimedia Engineering' and 'Creative Marketing'.
Next to the 3 main courses there were also several supporting courses like Product developing, photography, Audio Visual and some others.
The minor I did was called 'Product development', maybe this makes you think about industrial design or something else technical.. it isn't! Because many people misintrepetate this name, me and some other
students decided to give it another name; 'Multimedia Concept Development'. This name tells a lot more about what we were doing and learning in this minor.
After graduating as Bachelor from this study I started working as Project manager @ IceMobile, it was a very educative period and a fun company to work for.
Now my plan brings me to Austria for 1 month to do one of my biggest passions; snowboarding and after that I will move to Australia for about 1 year to study MiT (Master of Information Technology with eServices specialization) at Griffith University in Brisbane.
Of course besides doing the study I hope to learn how to surf and do some kitesurfing and wakeboarding and see the beautiful country (and hopefully some dolphins / wales etc but no sharks (anyway not as long as I'm surfing! :)) )
My plans & Ambitions
As said before I'm going to follow a study at the Griffith university in Brisbanes, Australia for about 1 year. After graduating as Bachelor from C&MD I stayed with my graduate company and worked there for 6 months (so in total +/- 11 months)
and I learned there that I want to continue in the mCommerce (mobile Commerce) direction. I believe there is a great future in this market and I want to develop myself as an expert in this market. I have strong ambitions to start my own company but I'm convinced it is good
to start slow and make sure I've got plenty experience a good network and knowledge to be a succesful entrepeneur in this market.
I also run my own business online in the form of a couple website that have everything to do with mobile phones called 'unlocking', which means making your gsm simlock free. I started this in 2000 as I though it was fun 'hacking' these mobile phones.
This grew in the years that past to an international business and I made a lot of friends in several countries like the UK, Spain, China, Hungary, Poland and some other countries. It started out as free download sites with a lot of visitors and continued in a website selling unlock hardware @ Gsm-software.net.
After some time the business shifted and I totally had it with the post companies (time / cost / revenue wasn't that good) and something new arrised called 'Remote unlocking'. Specially created for shops no special hardware was needed but only a simple cable and a internet connection.
A friend of mine (www.davinciteam.com)
launched a service 'Remote unlocking for Sonyericsson phones'. No more expensive equipment, just a simple cable and that's it. I started reselling his product at www.UnlockEquipment.com. I did this with a totally new concept:
I targeted end-users instead of unlocking shops! Also I created an 'Instant credit system' using Paypal as payment processor. This system was the first on the world for Remote unlocking and using this system customers would receive their 'unlock credits'
instantly in their email, meaning people could unlock their own phones within a couple minutes from their own homes. This was a huge succes. Davinciteam, the owner of the service, wanted my 'Instant Credit System' on his website also, he helped me a lot so I installed the system for a small price on his website. Again an HUGE succes. From there I just went on in the
'Remote gsm service scene' with as concept 'Unlocking at home'. I resell for Ser-rem (Motorola at drMoto.net) and for S2gsm (Alcatel at UnlockAlca.com).
Recently I teamed up with a Dutch programmer (123Unlock.nl) and we launched our own Remote unlock server! The Samsung Remote Server (SRS) at UnlockSamsungOnline.com. I'm doing all advertising, sales and distributing. Recently we celebrated our 1 year anniversary!
