2012 was a big year for SEO with a lot of changes which are being continued in 2013. Google is doing a better job getting rid of low quality websites and some businesses got hit pretty hard because of that.
I believe there are 2 sides to the sword, on one hand I think it is great getting rid of those annoying useless site designed to make people click on ads and not offering any content. However what happens with this ‘shift to authority sites’ is that the big guys get all the power and the smaller (starting) sites have more difficulty to get on page 1 on Google (and stay there).
In my opinion there is only 1 solution (SEO-wise) to battle this as a small new starting website: include your SEO plan in your strategy. SEO is not something you can ‘wing’ any more. You need to make decisions based on testing and long term ahead thinking. Unfortunately there are no specific tools yet to aid you in this strategical SEO planning which nowadays is required to get some good SEO results. This is where SEOProject comes in. This tool we are developing is a comprehensive strategical SEO planning tool which gives you direct access to every SEO method you can think off with budget planning, result tracking and direct SEO task outsourcing to reliable SEO experts. The tool is planned to be launched in the beginning of next year. More info and early bird access can be found at: www.seoproject.com
